Cargo lip gloss = no bueno!
Dear Cargo lip gloss,
I wanted to love you - really I did. I love all glosses and there are very few I don't love, however you are now in that category.
Sincerely,
Averagejosie
Don't expect any swatches of this gloss. After wearing it for one day, it is now on it's way back to Sephora. I overlooked the gloppy formula...or the fact that the color payoff was small and it seemed to disapear from my lips after about 30 minutes (it is a gloss after all). However, I couldn't overlook the fact that the moisture/formula seemed to evaporate from your lips after about 30 minutes as well, leaving nothing but small chunks of glitter behind. Very irrating pieces of glitter that you could feel and reapplying the gloss just made things worse.
Oh well....

A quick haul from Sephora
Hola! I hope everyone has been well. Every September is the "busy season" in my job so I've been putting in long hours at work. Well today, I was actually able to sneak out at 6pm so I decided to stop by Sephora on my way home. I did walk out with 3 items but in all fairness, I did go in with the intention to just buy one (which they didn't have - so really, it's Sephora's fault.... hehe).
Well I've been wanting to try some metallic shadows so I decided to purchase Sephora's Moonshadow baked pallete. These 10 metallic shades come in neutral/nude tones so these would be perfect to wear to work. For $28 (which comes to about $2.80 a pan) this is also a great bang for your buck.
Of course, I'm a total lip gloss junkie so when I saw this color (Belgium) by Cargo, I had to try it! More to come on my experience with this gloss as it will be my first time trying a Cargo product, which cost $14.
And finally....as I'm waiting in line to check out, I start smelling all of the rollerball perfumes and my fingers pick up Lady Million by Paco Rabanne. I take one whiff and fall completely in love. Home it comes for $20!
So there is a quick summary of my haul. What make-up goodies have you bought recently?

Head over heals for NYX
Well, it is official.....I *heart* NYX Cosmetics! I dabbled my skeptical toe into the pool of NYX a few posts ago when I purchased a Mega Shine Lip Glosses (of course). After having such a great experience with it, I decided to try their shadows, purchasing their 10 Color Eye shadow Palette in Jazz Night. OMG! These are soooo pigmented (which is a plus since I have a darker skin tone). I wore these on Friday and they lasted all day - with no creases or smudges! Now in the spirit of disclosure, I do wear an eye shadow primer with ALL shadows no matter the price point, but I do have to say that these wore just as well as my Chanel and Dior shadows. Needless to say I went back to Ulta and bought more today :) (see photo below for the haul).
Not only does NYX offers lots of quality shadows in a variety of colors, but their price point is VERY affordable. Single shadows are about $5 and palettes start at $8. In fact, right now at Ulta, lots of NYX products are on sale (glosses and eyeliners are buy 2 for $8!).
Seriously....an addiction has started and given the fact that NYX is so cheap, I don't see it ending anytime soon! lol Talk to you later!

Urban Decay Lip Junkies
Hello. Hope everyone is recovering from the long holiday weekend. Well as I've mentioned before, I have this insatiable appetite for lip gloss - if someone sells it, I'm trying it. So while browsing the aisle at Ulta, I ran across Urban Decay's lip junkie gloss and decided to give it a whirl. I grabbed one in 'Jilted' and went to work.
The lip junkies deliver sheer color as it cools your lips (it says that it also plumps, but I never notice - my lips are already full). It has a plastic applicator (no brush here) that easily glides across your lips. In my opinion, it wears longer than your average lip gloss which is always a plus in my book. These sell for $19, which I think is money well spent!

LORAC
This past weekend I strolled into Sephora Inside JCPenny, ready to purchase a pallet I'd been coveting only to find out that they hadn't received it yet (DOH!). Thankfully, this was an opportunity for me to finally try LORAC. I've heard good things about this brand and since they also carry baked eye shadows (which have become my new make-up crush) I said "why not" - so into my hands went LORAC's Starry-eyed baked shadow in Starlett. These are three shades of purple goodness that are begging to be worn.
So the next morning, I apply these shades in a smokey eye formation before heading off to work. First, these are baked shadows which means it can be worn dry (for sheer color payoff) or wet (for a more intensity). I went the dry route since I was headed to work. Even dry, the colors were very pigmented and were easy to blend. Not only did this shadow last all day, but I got lots of compliments as well!
All in all, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship. Can't wait to try other products.

NYX Mega Shine Lipgloss
Well I'm back in action after yesterday's perfume fiasco so it's time to start reviewing one of my latest purchases. I'm an avid reader of fashion magazines and beauty blogs and many rave about a cosmetic line called NYX. Founded in 1999 and based in Los Angles, NYX offers us the latest and the great colors and shades, while not compromising on quality (or at least that's what I've heard). So I headed down to my local Ulta to pick up....what else......a lip gloss!
I grabbed NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sponge Cake and decided to take it for a test run today. First, the color is more on the sheer side, so if you're looking for a pure pigmented color, this isn't it (although I did see a matte lip gloss offering by NYX so not all hope is lost). It does offer a great amount of shine without your lips looking as if they were coated in oil. It also wore very well - not sticky or tacky to the touch - it even passed my "hair caught in lip" test (meaning that if your hair blows upon your lip, it slides right off it). My lips also stayed soft all day as well so there is obviously plenty of moisturizers in the formula. I did have to re-apply throughout the day but let's be honest - all lip gloss are like this so to me, that wasn't a drawback.
At a price point of only $5.49 (at Ulta) you really have nothing to lose. I definitely plan on purchasing another color soon!

Welcome! Bienvenido! Selamat Datang !
Hello and welcome to my beauty blog! Since I am a HUGE lover of all things beauty, I decided to start chronicling my beauty buys, trys, loves and duds. As a self-professed lip gloss whore, I am on a quest to try every lip gloss made...well maybe not every one made but at least sold at Sephora and Chanel!
So normally here is where I would begin to talk about my latest haul, however fate had other things in mind. While flipping through the September issue of Lucky magazine, I noticed that DKNY has a new apple fragrance - Golden Delicious. Now, I'm normally not into their apple scents, but since this was create in honor of my favorite apple (yum), I decided to head over to Ulta and try it. So after I get there and grab a few goodies to review for the blog, I spy the bottle on the shelf. So I grab the bottle and without checking where the sprayer is pointed, I spritz the scent - ALL OVER MY FACE! I start flailing around like a nut trying to breathe! It was so embarrassing, but on the upside, Golden Delicious did smell divine so the experience wasn't a total loss. lol
So while I recouperate from my *fail* at Ulta, you'll have to wait until next time...but don't fret! I should be back in operation tomorrow.
Thanks for tuning in!
